“The Compassion of Jesus Christ” is 57 minutes long. It is also a great tool for churches wanting to start bereavement ministries.

Available also “Ever How Long It Takes” (55 minutes) for showing at bereavement support groups that cannot show religious videos. Biblical scriptures and gospel songs have been removed from this one.

These videos are intended to help the bereaved by creating an awareness that for the most devastating thing that can happen to an individual, there is far too little help. The focus is on bereaved parents, but the intent is to help anyone who is grieving.

People in the video include:

Dr. Sally Hastings who until recently was the only person in America who studied communication in bereavement. She has won prestigious awards for her research articles on bereaved parents.

Sherry Williams, the president and founder of New Leaf Resources, a national grief magazine. Sherry was called to New York after 9/11/01 to help the bereaved families of firefighters who died in the World Trade Center.

Bob Robey, who recently returned from training the U.S. Army in suicide prevention. When my son died there were no bereaved parents support groups in our community. Bob began one and facilitated the group for almost nine years. Bob Robey was the inspiration behind the name of both versions of the video -- he helped me and many other bereaved parents by showing us “the compassion of Christ”. In the video he states that there should be help for bereaved parents ‘ever how long it takes”.

Others in the video are bereaved parents from the community including me.

My Video

I believe that anyone who watches my video “The Compassion of Jesus Christ” can learn enough basic information to help anyone who is bereaved.

This video differs greatly from most other bereavement material in that the emphasis is on educating others how to help the bereaved. Many bereaved people go through a time that they are incapable of following through with self help instructions and suggestions. It may not necessarily be during the first year. It may be during the second or third year – or even later. If others can help during that time the bereaved have a much better chance at avoiding physical and psychological problems.
